Check it out! I previously smacked down my iPhone and made mention that it has mediocre sound quality. Something that has me eating humble pie is ironically due to a small bit of ignorance on my part!! - Sorry Steve Jobs and Apple!

I always thought that an earphone was an earphone and they always sound best when new out of the box. WRONG! Why do I say this? Easy. I misplaced my iPhone earphones and grabbed my set of old 5.5 generation iPod earbuds and poped them in just to see if they'd work with my iPhone. Good news! They worked GREAT! I have no idea why or how. I later found my misplaced earphones (earbuds) and what do you know. Tight, tiny, with no depth. - So it WASN'T my imagination. The new iPhone earphones are seemingly bad out of the box.

I was discussing this with my audiophile friend [Dwayne] and he mentioned to me that earphones need to break in sometimes to sound better. I heard this previously from others like Justin F. (and thought it was all just a bunch of bunk) but now it totally makes sense. I'm currently running my earphones at 3/4 volume with a little extra base enhancement. Just from 8 hours of audio play I can already notice the difference.

I'm going to give these phones a full 24hr "burn-in" at 3/4 volume (too much can obviously hurt them drastically and actually pose harm to your sensitive earphone membranes). The ipod is set to shuffle and I've got tons of music on my 8GB so no worries about the same thing going over and over. The iPhone just sits there on the charger playing music over an over. I'm sure that they will sound much better in the morning and I'm looking forward to it!

Well there's a tip for you audio junkies! Enjoy! BTW Thanks Justin and Dwayne for the tip!

iPhone Battery Life

iPhone Battery life. You're probably wondering how long this wonder device lasts. So far I'm going to rate this as fair.. I'm sure that there were a few things that Apple could have done to get a better and longer battery life but the quality would have suffered massively. For example the sharp screen could have used organic screens... making it less thick and more energy efficient... however the organics are not quite where LCD needs to be and not only that reading an organic screen in direct sun would prove to be useless.

I can see my screen just fine in the sun light! It works great in all light and I thank Apple for making the auto adjustment! It's awesome!

Battery life is supposed to be:
  • Talk time: Up to 8 hours
  • Standby time: Up to 250 hours
  • Internet use: Up to 6 hours
  • Video playback: Up to 7 hours
  • Audio playback: Up to 24 hours

  • Of course I get no where near this unless I pay close attention to the fine print on the apple site:

Talk Time: Testing conducted by Apple in May and June 2007 using preproduction iPhone units and software. All talk time testing was done connected to a 1900MHz network. All settings were default except: Call Forwarding was turned on; the Wi-Fi feature Ask to Join Networks was turned off. Battery life depends on the cellular network, location, signal strength, feature configuration, usage, and many other factors. Battery tests are conducted using specific iPhone units; actual results may vary.

Standby Time: Testing conducted by Apple in May and June 2007 using preproduction iPhone units and software.

Internet over Wi-Fi: Testing conducted by Apple in May and June 2007 using preproduction iPhone units and software. Internet over Wi-Fi testing conducted using a closed network and dedicated web and mail server, simulating browsing to 20 popular URLs and checking mail once an hour. All settings were default except: Call Forwarding was turned on; the Wi-Fi feature Ask to Join Networks and Auto-Brightness were turned off; WPA2 encryption was enabled. Battery life depends on the cellular network, location, signal strength, Wi-Fi connectivity, feature configuration, usage, and many other factors. Battery tests are conducted using specific iPhone units; actual results may vary. Internet over EDGE: Testing conducted by Apple in May and June 2007 using preproduction iPhone units and software. Internet over EDGE testing conducted over a 1900MHz EDGE, using a dedicated web and mail server, simulating browsing to 20 popular URLs and checking mail once an hour. All settings were default except: Call Forwarding was turned on; the Wi-Fi feature Ask to Join Networks and Auto-Brightness were turned off. Battery life depends on the cellular network, location, signal strength, EDGE connectivity, feature configuration, usage, and many other factors. Battery tests are conducted using specific iPhone units; actual results may vary.

Video Playback: Testing conducted by Apple in May and June 2007 using preproduction iPhone units and software. Video content was a repeated 2 hour 23 minute movie purchased from the iTunes Store. All settings were default except: Call Forwarding was turned on; the Wi-Fi feature Ask to Join Networks and Auto-Brightness were turned off. Battery life depends on the cellular network, location, signal strength, feature configuration, usage, and many other factors. Battery tests are conducted using specific iPhone units; actual results may vary.

Audio Playback: Testing conducted by Apple in May and June 2007 using preproduction iPhone units and software. The playlist consisted of 358 unique audio tracks, a combination of content imported from CDs using iTunes (128-Kbps AAC encoding) and content purchased from the iTunes Store (128-Kbps AAC encoding).

So... with all this in mind... Here's the real world experience battery Life:
  • Talk time: Up to 2.5 hours
  • Standby time: Up to 8 hours
  • Internet use: Up to 2.5 hours
  • Video playback: Up to 3 hours
  • Audio playback: Up to 6 hours

  • It's a guarantee that If you don't turn off your Wi-Fi radios the battery is gone in less than 5 hours no matter what you're doing. I can promise in the real world environment that you'll be recharging your iPhone twice a day no matter what. So just get used to it. I split it up like this... Overnight charge: Makes it fresh for all morning. End of work day charge: Lasts me for the next 3 hours to show my friends my cool phone.

I wish I could change out the batter but then again... so does everyone else but don't worry we can all purchase this with our hard earned money with the next iPhone 2.0.

iPhone, iTunes and Starbucks - Oh My!

It is just me or is Apple seemingly starting to get greedy? For example. I noticed the new iTunes icon on my iPhone thanks to the cool 1.1.1 update. Excited to see iTunes on my iPhone I immediately hopped on it to look for my favorite free news podcast... and uh, well, uh... let's see... wow. I can't find it... ANYWHERE.

Wow! What gives? It is just me or does it seem that Steve Jobs may be a little confused. I seriously believe that Apple THINKS that we have some sort of insatiable need to spend money without any given thought. As if spending money were some sort of necessary bodily function like urinating. Well, we all have to do it - right? so why not put a urinal on our iPhone? (substitute the word urinate for spend money and urinal for iTunes and Starbucks)

When I saw that we could now purchase music at Starbucks as if the over-priced coffee couldn't already include the cost of the music we could listen to... I was blown away! Why not let you have access to their music so that you can enjoy a song over and over again while you're there and then if you wish to take it with you THEN you could purchase it??

Or better yet, why can't we just access everything on iTunes like movies and free podcasts too? The only thing you can do on your iPhone as it seems is spend more money! There's nothing for free to benefit yourself except for the internet (of which you're already paying for the 2.5G drip-drip-drip dial-up speed network.)

It seriously looks as if Steve Jobs is confused on what we need and enjoy and it's pretty obvious that Apple is beginning to be blinded by GREED! I don't know about you, but I don't have the urge to spend money all the time. I detest being drained of a buck everywhere I turn. I like to enjoy the best things in life and yes, they are always free!! - (not 99 cents)

Just because we can seemingly afford the iPhone doesn't mean that we aren't wise consumers. Of course, in reality it would seem that we are actually NOT wise consumers especially in light of all the glaring compromises that this so-called revolutionary product has made in the name of greed. For instance - no copy/paste, no 3rd party applications, no flash, no disc support, shoddy iPod functions etc. etc. - Maybe we should rename this a revolutionary spending device instead of giving so much credit. How about maybe renaming it to the iSpend? - i Spend... I like the sound of that. Yes, iSpend is fits its functionality so much better than a compromising name like iPhone. So from now on let's wise up and rename our devices with a name that fits its main function best... iSpend.

Thank you Mr. Steve Jobs for making it easier for us to spend money.. But what happened to you? What happened to open-source? What happened to making life better for us and not Apple? Where did the community go? - I bet I know... right in your pocket at 99cents at a time!

How to save 50% and get $200.00 off your iPhone

Well, I said I would tell you how to do it in the earlier posts and now I will tell you!

As we all know, the purpose of a 2 year contract is to insure that you're not going anywhere and you promise to pay the wireless company enough money to make up for that "Free" phone that they "gave" you.

For instance; do you really think that your precious Motorola Razor phone is really free? Or your latest and greatest paper-thin LG phone with every feature under the sun is really only $50.00 after rebate? As momma always said... "Nothing is free" Yep you pay for it with your contract or when you leave your contract. That's why if it's a bad relationship it's better to get out early rather than pay for everything all over again at the end when it comes to cell phones.

Well, since you've got to pay for a 2-year contract with AT&T to use your precious iPhone that you're going to pay full price for... don't you think you should get a free phone for your trouble? - Of course, I thought so too! So why don't you do that? What's more, any AT&T store is so desperate for your business all you have to go is go in and get them to price match walmart.com. Often times it's better to just go to walmart.com instead. You'll get better service and often times you'll get more than the rebate on your phones by going to walmart.com... sometimes all the way up to over $120.00 back. When I say over I mean as in you get a $120.00 rebate on the phone you paid only the tax on. - No joke

Okay what to do with your free activated AT&T phone - NOTHING. Don't even take the plastic off of it! Turn in your rebates immediately and put that sucker up on eBay. For instance... I saw that the RAZR V3xx was selling somewhere in the ball-park of $200-250.00 - Very nice for an AT&T wireless device and yes... people pay full price on eBay for these every day and I have no idea why. The phone's retail is $349.00 so I guess they're getting a great deal. ;-)

Anyhow, after you sell your phone, collect your rebate then surprise... now your $400.00 iphone is now down to just $200.00 or even less if you went to Walmart.com to purchase your phone. Heck! They can even "Port" over your number.

Next step... the very next day after you activate your phone that you're not going to use go out to your LOCAL AT&T store and purchase the iPhone. Walk out and plug it into your Mac or PC and Sync it with iTunes. It will ask you on iTunes if you want to replace a line on your data plan... just say yes. (ironically it's going to be the very one that you just opened the day before) Say yes, choose the basic iPHone Data plan and Ta-Da! - You're all done.

Walmart.com is an authorized representative of AT&T wireless so don't fret... you're going to be dealing with AT&T 100% after you sign that contract any how. You can add an iPhone at ANY time on your current plan and it's no additional cost. AT&T sells their services a-la-carte and thus you're not saving ANYTHING by going directly to the iPhone.

As mentioned, they're selling you a 2 year plan to help pay for their phones.. you might as well let them give you one and enjoy your iPhone all the more! Of course it goes without saying to do a little research on the phone that's bringing the most on eBay... You don't want to pick a phone or a color of phone that nobody wants for example; a puke green Audiovox etc. Find out what's hot, take advantage of it and enjoy at least 50% off your iPHone - You earned it for being a smart shopper.

Oh yes, By the way, if you want to send me donations for helping you out just PayPal me at joe@retrobikes.com - THANKS! I need all the help I can get!

    - Cheers!

    iChat on the iPhone

So... you're not happy about not being able to send picture messages with your new iPhone. Never fret.. you have the internet right? Fantastic! Just pull up iChat and at least that will be a good substitute. After all you have the worlds "best" data plan from AT&T right?

What's that I hear?? You can't find iChat on your phone? Hmmm... wow, neither can I. SMS looks a lot like iChat but it's clearly not. Especially since it counts against your text messaging quota and you'll get billed a hefty 15 cents a glorious message if you go over your measly alloted 200. By the way AT&T fans... you're going to get billed for not only every message you send, but also every message you receive. Nice huh? I thought so.

Is it me or does it seem like this should have been included all in your data plan. Somebody from AT&T please explain how much more different SMS is than All the other Data that we're pushing through the EDGE network. I'm sure everyone would love to hear all about it!

Any how iChat does not exist. I know it seems as if we should have it but don't worry you can probably buy it on the next version as I'm pretty sure it's not coming out with any updates any time soon. And I'm sure that sending files is completely out so Bryan, please don't get your hopes up. - Sorry.

Why was iChat left out? Well think about it. 15-cents a message either sent or received adds up pretty quickly. Apple and AT&T are not stupid. What about a 3rd party application? Well count that out too for some reason I'm beginning to believe that update 1.1.1 locked out any hope of developing applications. So much for forward thinking and encouraging others to improve your product and develop a cool digital ecosystem. Your only hope is to go to some web application that doesn't behave as well as iChat. For Example: http://www.publictivity.com/iphonechat/

This 10 min web sample is pretty lame but tries to fill another glaring void that has all of us Apple fans looking at our shoes when someone asks about it. We can only hope that the iphonechat site isn't harvesting data from all of us only time will tell.

Well, that's regrettably another gripe about my iPhone. This blog is not meant to be an iPhone bashing blog. I love Apple, I love my iPhone. I'm just starting to love it less the longer I have it. If we base a graph from when I got it to the end of this week and the trend continued I'll be burning the device and cursing like an insane person in about 2 more weeks no matter what it cost me.

iPhone - Not really an iPod - Surprise!!

I think that the title of this post is obviously the most shocking of all the posts. I'll never forget Mr. Steve Jobs chanting: "an iPod, a phone, and and internet communicating device!" and then chanting again and again: "an iPod, a phone, and and internet communicating device!" all the while building up to what would be the crescendo and introduction of the new iPhone!

Well, sadly I must say that it is actually not an iPod as what you may be used to. Disappointingly the sound quality is about fair at best compared to my old 5.5 gen iPod. Other shocking revelations regarding this so called "iPod" phone are as follows:

  • Surprise Justin - your $99.00 VModa phones are not going to work... (at least without a clunky adaptor) because the headphone jack is recessed too deeply. I presume to encourage use of the proprietary [greedy] apple headset
  • If you like to look at your Lyrics and sing along...well, I hate to disappoint, but... yep, you guessed it. THE FEATURE IS NOT THERE!! I thought that this was a pretty slick feature of my previous iPods... click the center button and see the Lyrics etc... Well despite the so called "power" of the iPhone this basic feature has been removed.
  • Your $49.00 FM adaptor that works with ALL the ipods?? - Yep you guessed it. Look at the above pictures... No dice. This comes up on screen as an "Un-suported" device. Yes, it has the 30 pin connector, yes, they say it's an iPod but as we know it's really not. Thanks Apple for making me waste more money! - Awesome!

  • Yes, apple has done it again! (sort of, but in a negative sense) - Honestly, how hard would it be to fix glaring problems like these? Yes, obviously, not very hard... but for some reason.. It's not there.... Actually we already know what the reason is.... GREED. Don't worry everyone... All these will be fixed for an additional $399 with the can't wait, gotta have it now... new edition of the iPhone 2.0! I can see it now... "You know all those things that you thought would be on the iPhone but were not? Well, now we are bringing out a new version... better, faster, smaller, more memory and with EVERTYTHING we previously held back so we can sell you what you were missing... only $399.00!! GET YOURS NOW - while supplies last!

20X weather reports at the touch of a button but Alaska can go to $%@^!!

Cool! Check out what happens to the weather button when you 'hit' it. It brings up your local weather that you programmed into it. Seems that you can program up to twenty weather reports for various parts of the world except Alaska for some reason. I guess nobody wants to know what's going on up on Anchorage, Alaska... that or either those people up there just don't matter (that much).... Besides AT&T is not up in Alaska and neither is many other mobile services... so when it comes to Apple fans in Alaska, well you can go to Cleveland to enjoy their service. Besides they will never know that they aren't on the mighty iPhone anyway.

Sorry Alaskans, we know that even though you're part of the so called "United States" you're really not. The only thing we share is the English language. So get ready to enjoy freezing your iPhone-less butts off and keep dreaming of a global communication service that will never happen.. (sorry).

    Quicktime Movies! AWESOME!!!

I frequently love to visit my favorite time waster... Break.com. It's a pretty cool site like metacafe or liveleak where you can see some pretty bizarre things. Sometimes the comments are more funnier than the videos themselves. Any-hoo. Since my last post I was pretty disappointed that there was not flash included with Safari. Nor is there any way to make flash work with Safari. - Bummer. Perhaps Apple was too afraid that 3rd party developers would start making flash applications and thus cut into Apples profits. I'm beginning to think that Apple has given up their focus in making a better product and now turning to the almighty dollar as their goal. Sad as it seems, everywhere I turn there's another way for me to be drained of another 99cents from Apple or another $399.00. What's more, is the stifling of 3rd party development and open source development in their tradeoff and quest for greed.

I've been able to find a nugget of happiness with my iPhone. I've noticed, before my above rant, that Break.com doesn't have to use the Flash player to work. (I love Flash Videos and I know you do too!) It's so cool as you can see you can actually get a "Mobile" version of the site and still watch videos there.

I know, I know, I remember old Steve Jobs saying in his commercials... "It's not the mobile version or the lite version of the web... It's just the web in the palm of your hand." Obviously with the missing flash support, the nugget of Mobile versions of some site playing the Quicktime movies will help me to enjoy the web anyway despite the greedy apple executives who purposely trimmed out flash for future profits.

HOW TO CUT COPY AND PASTE using the iPhone!

The iPhone is perhaps the most advanced device on the planet. - This is true. However one thing that completely blew my mind is that the most basic function of copying text (let's say from an email) and pasting it into another email or saving it as a note or comment.... (addresses in contacts etc) cannot be done.

This has really hurt my perception about my new toy. I'm starting to see that maybe this life altering device may be nothing but a fancy facade. It's very scary. Who in their right mind could conceive such a beautiful work of art and leave out such an elementary function? Unless of course, you wanted to keep someone from completing a task for monetary reasons. - (More on this later)

It seems that Apple is starting to get greedy and I'll explain with my iTunes discovery that comes loaded on my new iPhone since 1.1.1.

If you want to learn how to cut/copy/paste with your iPhone I suggest you watch this video. Obviously I'm not the only one who's upset and hurt.

It just blows my mind how I can't copy photos, and paste more than one photo in my email... It blows my mind how I can't copy just a simple phone number or physical address to a contact that someone emailed me. I'm beginning to wonder if maybe I'm asking too much of the iPhone? After all, what am I looking for a hand-held tablet computer? - Maybe. But then again... how could you go through all the trouble to build something like a million-dollar home and forget to put doors and openings to any of the rooms? I don't know, but for some reason (monetary gain I fear) Apple managed to do just exactly that. - Thanks Apple...

iRooms - these are special cool rooms that are all individually separate and sealed off from each other and there is no way to move items and furniture from one room to the other. You must appear only in that room and stay there. If you want breakfast - too bad. If you need to go potty - too bad. If you want to answer the door - too bad. - Cut/Copy/Paste Nazi strikes again!

200 Text Messages! - NO SOUP FOR YOU!

Looking at my plan... AT&T has so generously offers to give you 200 text messages (SMS) - (/again/ no pictures or video on the iPhone) what totally cracks me up is the fact that if you text someone else on your own FAMILY PLAN which is AT&T Mobile to AT&T Mobile at its very finest.. guess what... It actually counts against your text messages... Yes that is correct...

Are you ready for another banger? You only get 200 text messages... this means when I send a SMS to my wife it's charged as one text message from me (sent) and she gets charged a text message (received). - Hmmm all this is very interesting just coming off the Verizon plan where $5.99 gets you unlimited TEXT, PICTURE AND VIDEO messaging to anyone on my calling plan, even including any Verizon phone, and furthermore, now any mobile Phone period. - All that and only $5.99.

AT&T is the all over network? I'm beginning to wonder... This relationship is going to obviously hurt me in more ways than one. - Not good.

I know I can update my plan for an ADDITIONAL $30.00 and get unlimited for the family plan but... I don't think that's going to happen. My cheap butt is stuck with the $5.99 200 text for my non-iphone wife and my 200 text msg iPhone plan.

    - Thanks guys, there's nothing like being controlled by the soup Nazi of text messaging.... Here's the real kicker and food for thought. How different is the SMS data sent from my iPhone than the email data sent from my iPhone data plan? Hmmmmm... interesting. I'm sure AT&T has an awesome explanation. I think that the email would be somewhat more expensive since it involves a real ISP. But really, who am I to judge the greedy?? It's things like these that are starting to sour my experience.

THOU SHALT NOT SEND MORE THAN ONE PICTURE!

Yes, just as the commandment says... You cannot and will not be able to send more than one picture per email. How about drag and drop... (sorry... no such thing as you would think) - Cut/Copy/Paste? - Doesn't exits (More on this later).

What can you do? Well as you can see in the above picture this is my photo library of a few shots of Dave talking on his Corporate drone Blackberry device. (Looking better all the time to me) I'm going to take a picture of him and email it to my wife (since we've established that SMS Picture messaging does not exist in the world of iPhone for whatever ungodly reason. (sorry I'm starting to get upset)

As you can tell here there is only four things that are going to happen to this photo...
  • Use it as Wallpaper
  • Email Photo (and only this one photo)
  • Assign to Contact
  • Send to Web Gallery

  • I have no idea why you can't send more than one photo... this was a major let down for me... I'm still trying to get over the soreness from the lack of SMS picture messaging and now I'm discovering that I can't treat email like, uh, email. - Very interesting. I'm wondering what's next?

Hey, look at the bright side. at least I can email... right? and it doesn't count against my measly 200 text message plan that AT&T gave me. - man, only 200 Text messages? and it counts when they are on the same plan? - I think I know what my next blog is going to be about...

Honeymoon is Over? - SMS texting.

Oh no, I feel as if my iPhone experience is starting to go down hill now. I've learned all the features, there's no more to explore and discover!! What's next???

Now, like a new marriage, I'm beginning to see my new 'mate' in a whole new light. Her faults are becoming clearly evident now. Should I have listened to my friends? Should I have listened to my mother? My Dad seemed to really want to see me happy... But Momma warned me about the new "girl" in town... Miss iPhone. She's so sexy and bright, so many 'buttons' and so fun and she can do so much! Or am I now discovering that she can only do "so" much?

Well, time will tell. My first discovery was the cool way that the iphone does SMS texting! So AWESOME!!! I love it! It's like iChat. I love iChat and instant messaging. Now I can combine the love of both and apply it to texting my friends in style! - Soo cool!

However I'm wondering how to send those cute pictures of my daughter to my wife... she always gets a kick out of those pictures. Every one is priceless, and they are always there at the right time during her work to cheer her up during a long day. BUT WAIT! Where can I attach my pictures to text messages? Hello? OH NO! MAY-DAY! MAY DAY! - THIS IS AN ESSENTIAL FUNCTION AND IT'S NOT HERE??? Maybe I'm just overlooking it... Uh, not here, not here.... maybe here? Nope. .... where could it be?... Alas.. no where to be found! Panic! YES time to PANIC!!!

Well yes it's true... email is so much more powerful for sending pictures... but where's the spontaneous fun factor for all those who can't handle a 2 mega-pixel shot... and those who only have a mobile phone and not another iPhone or laptop handy? - Well I guess both me and my friends are all S.O.L. (Short on Love) when it comes to picture messaging.

The next bubble bust is the discovery that I can't MASS-TEXT all my buddies the same message. Yes, I must create an individual conversation to each of my contacts and type the same thing to each one... See my spot on Cut/Copy/Paste....

Very, very weak. I'm almost stunned and I begin to wonder what other huge flaw did I overlook with my new 2 year partner? I'm very frightened to see what's next.

I'm sure that Steve Jobs knew what he was doing when he left this out... and there's a good reason again, I don't know what it is but I'm missing it so much already it hurts.

WHAT!!!?? NO FLASH!!?? What else am I missing?

Here I am looking at the banner at http://www.retrobikes.com and I can't see the flash banner with that cute little monkey bike or what ever you call it, running across the screen. As a matter of fact I'm missing out on a whole lot of things like this in my web "Experience". So far I'm feeling my first feeling of uneasiness about my new 2 year commitment. Did I say TWO YEARS?? Ack! Yep. I hate commitments... especially ones that I leap into too quickly...

I wonder what's going to be next are there going to be any more surprises? I hope not. I'm also finding other things to make me happy! I can run 8 web browsers all at the same time. What do you know... it also imported all my bookmarks from Safari. I so love Safari as we web browser... It's so fast and so clean... However it's not supported by Google.... so I must use FireFox on Yahoo and Google to take advantage of advanced features... (Come Yahoo!!! Get with it! - You too Google!!!)

Wow This Thing has a lot!!!

Wow! This is awesome... Well, it usually takes me about 20 minutes to 1/2 hour to explore every single square inch and menu on your typical mobile telephone. The verdict on this phone? Honestly, to test out every single function it took me 6 hours. - No, I'm not slow...I tested every single function. This thing has a lot to test out. It looks as if I have everything I will ever need an I'm not going to miss anything from my old Verizon phone... or could I be wrong?

Testing out the phone I did notice some very nice features... as a matter of fact lots of very nice features that you normally would only find on the laptop. Most of the functions on the phone are very natural. Especially the "pinch" function. I love this method in checking out REAL web pages all the time... However I did notice some things wrong with my web browser... namely my "Macromedia / Adobe" FLASH support was not there!!!! Aaaaaaaaaaagh...I guess that it's not a standard.... but come on... honestly, who doesn't use flash these days? Flash seasons just about ever modern site out there on the web!!!! Some sites are even 100% flash (http://mycokerewards.com for instance). Apple is all about open standards and of course, flash is not an open standard but man... come on!!! We need flash to make this work... what am I going to do?

Okay it works... Out of the box!

Okay... what do you know... this thing works right out of the box (sort of) I turned it on and half expected to hear the singing of angles in heaven all shout in praise as this device powered on. To my surprise, it didn't quite go that way. I found out that I had to plug it in to my computer (iMac) and activate it.

I got an additional $200.00 off my 8GB iPhone and I'll tell you how I did it in my next blog. I think you'll be proud of me. Of course now that I've crossed this bridge I don't mind telling others about it. But I'm sure that AT&T will soon catch on and put an end to it. Any how, more about the power-on of my new iPhone...

The phone powered on with a 70% charge... I found that I had to pug in to my computer and sync with iTunes. the menus were a dream to navigate through.. The phone magically powered on and I had the option to replace my current primary line on my family plan. (actually It didn't ask me it just chose the top phone number or primary number) I wish it would have asked... I still would have picked this number, yes, but what about all the people who have that teenager that gets one and when they power-up they take Dad's number... not good. Maybe Apple will fix this in the future.

Any way, now it's up and going. The phone turns on and magically starts to work. I love the planet earth default picture and think I may keep it... but I'm now wishing that I had the "Fish" picture that you so often see on the commercials and advertisements.
My buddy David has a Blackberry and he has all the iPhone icons and Fish wallpaper. I wish I could have the fish wallpaper to show him how it's supposed to look on a 'real iphone but, as mentioned... not there. [disappointed] Who knows, may I'll find a knock off somewhere on google images.

    I actually got an iPhone!

Oh my, I can't believe that I actually DID IT!!!! I GOT AN IPHONE! Will this be a life altering moment for me or not? The date was October 1st 2007... Would this day be the beginning of a life altering course? Will this gadget change my life? I had chosen this material possession using my awesome gift of free will and my implicit trust in Steve Jobs of only making the coolest of the cool toys out there... things that I "Need" and just can't live without... would this be another?

I, like everyone, personally feel that this device could really make a difference. Will it? Well just read my blog as I continue to learn how to use it and find out what it really does (or doesn't do).

So far so good... Let the games begin!
